A lovely gesture ...

We went to a delightful concert of Arab music, both tuneful and rhythmic, in Hoxton last Friday - the same group, Sama', who were playing in Tottenham on Sunday (couldn't go to the latter since it clashed with the Fete on the Triangle!). It was supposed to be in aid of Palestinians, but in the event they donated half the proceeds to our own third-world-type housing disaster - Grenfell Tower.

  • Actually, I think I was talking through my hat - the only Palestinians that the concert was in aid of were the musicians themselves. But it was a lovely gesture - as they said, 'people should not die because they are poor'.
