from Gordon Peters:
Haringey Council leadership - against the wishes of many councillors and indeed of both constituency Labour Parties, and the unanimous recommendation of their Overview and Scrutiny Committee - is determined to go ahead with the biggest transfer of local authority land and property in UK history by setting up a so-called 50:50 partnership with a multi-national company, Lendlease, in this 'Haringey Development Vehicle'. This is the same company whom the US Attorney General had to indict for criminality and corruption in its dealings with New York City in 2012, and which has redeveloped Heygate estate in Southwark with very few local residents re-housed locally after the demolition. It may almost beggar belief that a Labour council is about to sell its main assets across the borough to a ‘’vehicle’’ such as this, but that is exactly what will happen tomorrow night, 14 February, at its Cabinet - and it is not even going to its full Council - on a once off valuation of over £2 billion worth of public land and building, in the name of regeneration. Local people not consulted. Local people confronted with years of disruption and no guarantees of preservation of rights.
It’s what has been called social cleansing - and that is exactly what it increasingly is going to be, if not stopped. I am asking for a Valentines Day de-railment of the 'Haringey Demolition Vehicle’.
It must be halted.
After that at least a fair and public discussion of all the real alternatives.
In order to do do this, I have issued a Pre-Action Letter regarding a judicial review to the Leader of the Council, Claire Kober, before the Cabinet meeting on 14 February, and of course this costs money to afford the solicitor and barristers.
I hope that people, including many beyond Haringey as this has national implications too, will support as far as they can by contributing.

I tried to donate to Gordon Peters' justgiving fund to pay for lawyers seeking a judicial review of the Council's Haringey Development Vehicle, but the browser always hangs whenever I click on the Donate button (whether using laptop or tablet)! If anyone else has this problem, you can email Lucy Craig on lucycraig47@gmail.com , and she will suggest an alternative.
I clicked on the link and it worked fine. Perhaps the problem has been resolved now.
