John Baird re-opened as The Village Green

The John Baird which closed a little while ago has now re-opened under the name "The Village Green".

I'm so glad it's still a pub - was a bit worried when it first closed. I see there's a bit of debate about the new name, with some upset to lose the historic name the John Baird. Others share a sense of relief that it is still a nice neighbourhood pub.

  Yes I agree! Maybe it'll follow the Starting Gate and go back to the original some time ...
  
  As Susie says, though, at least it's still a proper pub, and there seem to be fewer and fewer of those around here these days.
