Mature oak tree at risk!

11035476855?profile=RESIZE_710xThere is another large and beautiful mature tree at risk of being felled. This is concerned with 27 Woodfield Way and the tree is a wonderful oak, with a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) on it, in Scout Park. This is another application triggered by an insurance company trying to off-load their responsibilities, in this case to The Scout Association, who own the tree. The tree is quite some distance from the house (see photo) and it is unlikely to be the main cause of relatively minor settlement cracks.

The loss of this tree would be really serious – it enhances the area and makes a significant contribution to the environment – we need trees like this!

Please protest and make an objection – the planning application reference is HGY/2023/0827 and all the details are on the council’s Planning website  - https://publicregister.haringey.gov.uk/pr/s/planning-application/a0i8d000002HJyUAAW/hgy20230827?c__r=Arcus_BE_Public_Register.

Sadly, the website is unhelpful and not easy to use - it’s probably best to object by sending an email direct to the planning officer, daniel.monk@haringey.gov.uk or to planningsupport@haringey.gov.uk .

The site is within Bounds Green ward and hopefully one of the councillors there can be persuaded to pick up on this.

  • Good news! The planning application to destroy this wonderful tree has been withdrawn! No reasons are given, but good for Haringey Council for not capitulating to the insurance company.

  • There is now a really good petition about this tree with more than 500 signatures. If you haven't signed, please add your name - see: https://chng.it/CWKZCT9WXW . I wonder, have any of the Bounds Green councillors taken interest in this?

  • That's a beautiful tree. You wonder why they don't pollard it or cut its crown. Nuts to remove a tree that offers so much to humans and to wildlife.
