Subject: Planning application for an antennae in the Rec
Apologies to those of you who are receiving this for a second time from me …
A planning application for an antennae on the edge of the Recreation Ground is currently under consultation. It is proposed that the antennae will be 15 meters high ( the trees in the Rec are about 7 meters high, so it will rise above them).
Note that the closing date for comments and objections is 16th March.
I think this is a similar application to one put in 10 years ago (they have moved the site of the antennae by 6 meters!) that was rejected after mass objection.
If you would like to comment or object there are a number of comments linked to the application that are useful for reference (can be copied if you are short of time!).

Please put in an objection to this one too, making the same points as with the Albert Rec one. These points in the decision notice for a Albert Rec refusal are all relevant to this one:
The proposed development, by reason of its siting, appearance, size, scale and prominent location, would be visually intrusive, out of keeping with the character of the existing street scene and would have an adverse effect on the appearance of the locality. The proposal if allowed would impede pedestrian movement along this stretch of Durnsford Road. The proposal would be contrary to emerging Policy DM1 of the Development Management, Development Plan Document (pre-submission version Jan 2016), Saved Policy SP11 of the Haringey Local Plan (2012) and as such prior approval is required and refused
Planning application refused.
Phewww! That's a relief.
Planning permission for a mast in a similar position on the pavement near AP station was rejected a few years ago - this would raise the same issues.
It looks as if this immense structure would be right on the pavement - which is already crowded from the schoolchildren going in and out of the nearby AP school entrance, more schoolchildren further down the road from Rhodes Avenue, and a bus stop almost next to it. It is a totally inappropriate place for it.
Blimey, just looked at all the docs attached to the Haringey planning link - thanks for posting this Susie, I wasn't aware of this at all. The mast is ENORMOUS! Twice the height of the trees. It'll be right on the main road and very close too both schools, and all the football and athletics practice that go on in the Rec. Jury seems to be out on the health issues, it's difficult to know who/what to believe on that one!
