PWA has just sent out a newsletter asking supporters to sign their names in support of its latest submission.

This is in response to what are called the Main Modifications(MMs) to Haringey's Local Plan. These are changes needed to render a plan sound in planning terms.

As some of you will be aware, at the public examination hearing last August we took a major step forward when the Inspector recommended that the Pinkham Way site be removed from the Site Allocations document, as there were no identifiable development proposals.

The Council offered no resistance and acquiesced immediately. However, it is STILL, irrationally and perversely, trying to retain the actual designation for employment in another area of its plan, even though its arguments, if anything, reinforce the picture of the site's unsuitability.

Our submission aims to persuade the Inspector that this designation should finally, and mercifully, be removed, leaving the site as a Grade 1 Site for Nature Conservation. Haringey's own professional advisors described the site as 'Unique in the borough for its size and the habitat mosaic it supports'

Here's the link to the PWA newsletter. All adults in a household (over 16) can sign. You can also sign for someone else - only, obviously, with their approval.

It'll be six years next month that this issue first emerged. The support we've had over that time has been nothing less than phenomenal. A proposal that started in 2011 as a virtual fait accompli has now, with your help, been rolled back to the point where Haringey is left in the tightest and most untenable of corners.

Many, many thanks.
