After 31 January you will no longer be able to use regular Royal Mail stamps without a bar code. So if you have any stamps hidden away in your wallet or at the back of the drawer, do please use them before the end of the month or swap them for new bar coded ones. Here’s a link to Royal Mail that explains what is happening and how you can exchange your old stamps for new valid ones.

There is an exception, which is that Christmas stamps and special stamps with pictures on will continue to be valid. I thought I'd post this reminder as it's exactly the type of thing I'd normally forget and then get cross about.

  • You now have until 31 July 2023 to use 1st and 2nd class stamps without barcodes after a Royal Mail U-turn – here's what you need to know. You now have until 31 July 2023 to use any non-barcoded everyday stamps – those with the Queen's profile on – before they become worthless.
