I was dismayed to see diggers churning up the square of grass between the tennis courts and playground (behind the latter) in Albert Road Rec - wondering what was going to be built here.  The answer is - a large wildlife pond, and they have already filled it with water!  It is being created by the charity Froglife - not mentioned on their website (or anyone else's?), it seems, only on their Facebook page. A brilliant idea for part of the park that is not used for anything else!

  • Great! Love the idea of a wildlife pond - let's hope it doesn't end up filled with rubbish like the areas around the benches behind the tennis courts. Despite there being a bin next to each bench...

  • A good reason for diggers getting rid of grass for a change - nice addition to the rec!

    • Yes, indeed!

btw Froglife has lots of info. on creating and maintaining one's own wildlife pond here.

  • That's brilliant - I'll go and take a look later!
