I read in the local paper yesterday that Marks and Spencer is planning to close its branch in Wood Green. This is really bad news for the high street, and I wish they would invest in the shop rather than close it. I like that branch because it sells school uniform for kids and the staff are really efficient and helpful when it comes to picking up 'click and collect' parcels. In my experience that's always a huge faff at the Muswell Hill store. Local MP Catherine West has started a petition to save the store from closure.

So sad
I went to M&S in Wood Green earlier today and took this sad photograph. Closure of the store on 26th September is imminent but I wondered if anyone has a any idea what will take its place?
Update: Wood Green M&S will close on September 26th, exactly a year after it shut the outlet store and nice cafe upstairs. It's one of 9 stores planned for closure across the country and I will be very sad to see it go (gutted, actually). According to a recent article in the Guardian, over 11,000 people signed a petition to stop the Aldershot M&S from closing. Our Wood Green petition (see earlier posts) has mustered fewer than 800 signatures.
Do you think we should put it up on one of those sites like 38 degrees or Change org?
Hi Soulla - it is on Change.org.
I spoke to a member of staff at Wood Green M&S today and she confirmed that the store will close in September. Staff are utterly gutted and despairing. If we are unhappy about this decision we need to write to M&S directly. The address is: Customer Services, Marks and Spencer PLC, Waterside House, 35 North Wharf Road, London W2 1NW
How awful, Thanks for letting us know, I have signed the petition.
