Hi folks,
I hope you are all well. As mental health is slowly gaining parity with physical health, and more people are becoming aware of their own mental health needs, I wanted to let you know I have recently been trained as a Mental Health First Aider by Mental Health First Aid England
I am trained to offer help and support to those in the initial stages of mental health crisis and make appropriate suggestions for treatment. I am not trained as a counsellor, I must add. I am trained in depression, anxiety, psychosis and substance misuse specifically.
If you need any mental health support, you are more than welcome to get in touch with me by phone 07421 995946 or email robin@hosking.me
I would like to set up a local "Mental Health Mates" group for people who suffer. The idea would be to meet up every so often to go for a walk and a cup of tea for peer support. Isolation can be one of the most crippling elements when it comes to mental health.
If you are interested in joining a "Mental Health Mates" local group, please let me know so I can begin to set up a private Facebook group and begin to get things in motion.
Cheers,
Robin.

I hadn't heard of this organisation before - it sounds really useful. How long does the training take, Robin?
It was a two day course near Old St. They run a one day course too. It's fairly expansive I think but the organisation put me on a promotional course since I volunteer in the charity sector. Well worth it.
What a great initiative, Robin.
