  • Glad to know what this variety is. Lots of lovely white blossom at the moment.

    Slight correction this is not blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), it is cherry plum (Prunus cerasifera) - the particular type is Purple leaved plum (Prunus cerasifera 'Pissardii'). There is lots in the park, below the BBC tower, also at the entrance to the Pitch and Putt and at the top of the old dry ski slope.

    Blackthorn comes out a bit later (should be showing soon). Not usually that large.
