Celebrate World Bee Day at Alexandra Palace Garden Centre

After the great response of last years’ first World Bee Day at Capital Gardens, we are happy to announce we are celebrating it this year on Sunday 19 May across all four of our garden centres. From bee-friendly activities to guided tours of neighbouring beehives, join us for an exciting day full of fun and interesting activities. A free to attend event with the aim to inform about bees and sustainability as well as helping local beekeepers.

 

Each centre is partnering with a local beekeeping group to support the community’s bee population, with donations going to the beekeepers on the day. Children activities, bee friendly products, expert talks and much more!

 

Alexandra Palace Garden Centre is in partnership with the North London Beekeepers. Try beekeeping equipment on for size as you learn all about the intricacies of keeping and caring for bumblebees with an on-site observation hive.

 

Kids activities will include DIY bee stone painting, with stones, paint and brushes provided. Alexandra Palace is also hosting a ‘Big Bee Hive’ colouring activity, where kids can get creative and paint a bee-autiful section of the giant hive which will remain on display after the event for visitors to see.

Illustrating Children’s books, course for adults on Wednesday mornings at The Green Shed, 1 Tetherdown N10, 10-11.30am. April 30 – July 9.

Geekstraveganza – regular boardgame meetup on these dates at Karamel, 4 Coburg Road, Wood Green, 1-6pm.

Em Power fitness classes – Monday and Friday mornings in OR Tambo Rec, 9-9.30am (term time only). The main focus is on core and legs.

Life drawing sessions – alternate Saturdays during term time at Rhodes Avenue Primary School, 1-3pm.

Free Martial Arts and Self-defence for Women and girls for the month of March on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Alexandra Park School.

Painting for Pleasure – Thursdays at CUFOS Community Centre (the old railway station), Top of The Avenue N10, 10-12.30pm or 1.30-4pm. Jan 9th - March 27th.

Fortismere Community Symphony Orchestra rehearses Tuesday evenings during term-time at Fortismere School, 7-9pm. Get in touch for more info.
