THURSDAY SEPT. 08, 6-9PM AND THURSDAY SEPT. 15 6:30-9PM

With instructor and industry specialist Nadia Constantinou from "In the Fold".

Nadia has over 30 years industry experience as a pattern cutter/ grader & garment technologist before setting up her own Consultancy business supporting High Street & Online brands such as John Lewis, Margaret Howell and Pretty Lavish improve fit & technical issues through communication within the supply chain.

<p "=""><p "="">Have you ever seen a dress or top and wondered how to make it your own to fit your body type? Well here at Stitch we have the class for you!<p "="">With Nadia's guidance and instruction you will be taught the basics on how to measure and create a block pattern to take away with you. With the trend working towards reducing and reusing you are able to shape and draft clothing that fits you the way you want, making it more wearable and longer lasting in your closet. With your new found skills after taking our class, you will be on your way to being able to restyle clothing you already have as well as creating brand new garments.<p "="">This is a class for beginners and hobbyists to pattern making, but it’s best to have knowledge of how to use a sewing machine in advance. With this class you will not be taking a finished garment home with you, just a pattern ready for sewing.<p "="">Part one covers:<ul "="">

  • How to make a basic box shift top/ dress
  • How to create your own measurement chart
  • Understanding the basics of adapting a block to your individual measurements
  • Understanding notches, grainlines and seam allowance and how they relate to fabric
  • Toiles, what are they and how to translate amendments to your block pattern

<p "="">Part two covers:<ul "="">

  • Fitting
  • Instructions on how to amend the pattern and adapt the design
  • Changing dart positions
  • Adjust skirt shape length
  • Add waist seams

<div "="">Each participant will leave with their own block pattern ready to cut & sew at home.<div "="">You do not need to bring anything just yourselves. We will provide all materials and tools needed, as well as a warm welcoming, cosy, environment to learn and create. Light refreshments will be provided.<p "="">DATE AND TIME : Thursday 8th September, 6:00-9:00 and Thursday 15th September, 6:30-9:00 pm
