Join Carol and Susan to learn the basics of modern machine quilting!
In this 6 hour workshop you will learn skills that include choosing which fabrics are suitable, rotary cutting, creating a patchwork, layering the quilt, quilting the layers together and finishing off with adding a binding. The design will be based on a patchwork made of squares. It is recommended that you are experienced with using sewing machine. Otherwise, no previous quilting experience is required.
Please bring your own fabric or pop in the shop in advance of the course and choose from our wide selection of fabrics. We provide and use Janome sewing machines in the lesson, plus rotary cutters. We recommend using cotton or polycotton fabrics to create the patchwork and to add the backing. You will need 1 metre of fabric for the patchwork and another metre for the backing. The patchwork fabric should consist of at least 3 different colours and designs. Fabric can be purchased from the shop either by the metre or as fat quarters. Wadding is available to buy on the day. The size needed will depend on the size of the patchwork.
