  • Location: CUFOS
  • Latest Activity: Nov 13, 2021

One of the park’s most enthusiastic and dedicated birders, Bruce Carson, died suddenly in the summer. We are holding a birding event  to celebrate Bruce’s life and to raise funds for much-needed habitat improvement in the Cricket Scrub - an important spot for birds in Alexandra Park.

Bruce’s partner, Fiona, has kindly donated Bruce’s bird books to the Friends, and we will auction these at the event. You are also invited to bring any of your bird books or other birdy stuff for a bring-and-buy table. Mark Evison, the Park Manager, will talk about his woodland management plan, which includes the work on the Cricket Scrub, and there will be a display of some of the fantastic bird photographs taken during the year in the park.

The event will take place at CUFOS, at the top of The Avenue, N10 2QE, on Saturday 20 November starting at 7.30 pm. We will ensure the ventilation in the room is good, and it will not be crowded. Drinks and nibbles will be served.

Whether you are someone who knew Bruce, or you are a birder hoping to pick up a good bird book or you would like to hear more about birding in Alexandra Park, do come along.  If you plan to attend, please send an email to us, stating the number coming, so that we can plan refreshments.
