Ruben has worked with Wynton Marsalis (and others) while Mark Kavuma is the leading light behind “Banger Factory”, so this is a meeting of the new wave of bop and Mark Taylor who has literally performed with most of the great American artists.

Line Up: Mark Kavuma - trumpet, Ruben Fox - tenor saxophone, Simon Purcell - piano, Amy Baldwin - bass, Mark Taylor - drums

A rising star on the UK and US jazz scene, saxophonist Ruben Fox has already performed with legends including Wynton Marsalis, Jon Batiste, Roy Hargrove and Barry Harris, as well as other upcoming artists of his generation such as Reuben James and Mark Kavuma. From a musical family, Ruben is an alum of the renowned jazz education programme Tomorrow’s Warriors, as well as the Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music and Dance and the renowned performing arts conservatory Julliard in New York City. His sound has been compared to such heavyweights as Ben Webster, Coleman Hawkins and particularly Don Byas, possessing an exquisite tone and dynamic range. Ruben’s first album, simply-titled ‘Introducing Ruben Fox’ features a revolving cast of guests and also showcased his evident producing and arranging skills. Along with his considerable panache as a performer, Ruben is definitely one to watch.

“…potent and assured…flawless” (London Jazz News)

As a performer, Kavuma is renowned for his unique, distinctive trumpet sound. His lyricism, soulful tone and graceful technique spread infectious joy and mutual excitement among audiences and fellow musicians. His evolving compositional flair immerses fellow band members in the vibrant, contemporary world of colour, texture, and harmony that epitomises his musical style.

A gifted educator and inspirational creative enabler, Mark is an associate music leader for the Tomorrow’s Warriors programme and is also involved in their professional performance ensembles including the acclaimed Nu Civilisation Orchestra, Jazz Jamaica Small Band, and Jazz Jamaica All Stars. He is also a brass tutor and leader at London based carnival band Kinetika Bloco and released their debut album Legacy (2022) on his label.
