Disco-themed demo & delegation to Council Cabinet at Civic Centre this Tuesday 10th March 6pm.
~ Maybe the most important event in Haringey's history? ~
Following their declaration of "Climate Emergency" on 18th March last year, Haringey have finally published their Climate Change Action Plan - which though showing admirable progress from where they were, does not go fast enough, or wide enough, or deep enough, or address the ecological side of the crisis enough. And it has taken them a whole year to formulate a plan. And it is just a draft. And it won't be adopted until November. And it is just item 11 out of 43 on that meeting's agenda.
XR Haringey is joining with XR Muswell Hill, Friends of the Earth, Living Streets, Labour Climate Action Group, Haringey Climate Forum, Living Streets, Sustainable Haringey and school & youth groups to help Haringey Council realise this should be seen as THE MOST IMPORTANT DOCUMENT THEY HAVE EVER PRODUCED. And that it does not go half far enough to secure the lives of the residents under their care. And to encourage them to join us in peaceful rebellion against central government to secure the funds and powers they need to fulfill their moral and legal duties.
Bring banners, placards, flags and your best disco rags to celebrate and accelerate start of system change in Haringey!
