An orchestral concert of vibrant dance-inspired works from Ligeti, Borodin, Tchaikovsky and Khachaturian.

Join us for this very special dance-inspired concert on Saturday, 6th July in Muswell Hill, N10. Alongside Ashok Klouda performing the Tchaikovsky will be the actual maker of the cello, Tibor Semmelweiss, who will be playing violin in the orchestra at the same time. A very special occasion for both luthier and cellist!

There are also going to be several instantly recognisable bits – the Waltz from Khachaturian’s Masquerade being one of them. (It inspired the score for the film An Adventure in Space and Time written by Mark Gatiss.) Another one will be the Borodin Polovtsian Dances, probably just as widely known now as the tune for the song Stranger in Paradise!

Programme:
Ligeti Concert Românesc
Khachaturian Masquerade Suite
Tchaikovsky Variations on a Rococo Theme
Borodin Polovtsian Dances

Conductor: Thomas Gregory
Leader: Alexander Casson
Soloist: Ashok Klouda
