Free BJJ classes for men for the month of November. These classes are aimed at people that have never trained in BJJ before or are returning to training after a long break
About this event
For the month of November, Alexandra Park BJJ (as featured on Channel 4) will be offering free classes for men. It is open to all practitioners with less than 6 months exprience or those returning after a long layoff. It will cover all the basic skills and movements of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and more advanced techniques for those with more experience.
Our BJJ classes enable you to develop your fitness levels, balance, coordination, and flexibility develop in a no-pressure environment and provides the opportunity to start a new sport at a reasonable price with like-minded beginners.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a full-contact martial art, combat sport, and self-defence system focusing on grappling, especially ground fighting. Alexandra Park BJJ offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for all levels.
Classes will run on Saturdays at 1 pm at Alexandra Park School, Rhodes Avenue, London, N22 7UT.
All Participants at Alexandra Park BJJ are expected to sign up to our code of conduct and an insurance waiver.

Friday 23 - Sunday 25 February – the first Crouch End Literary Festival will be held at Hornsey Library and venues around N8.

Saturday 24 February – Open Meeting: campaign about the cuts to Alexandra Park Library at Alexandra Park Library Room 1 (first floor), 2-4pm. Supporters of Alexandra Park Library.

Saturdays 2 – 30 March – Free Martial Arts Classes at Alexandra Park School, The Gym, Rhodes Avenue, 12pm. Mixed gender classes, but free for women during March. See also other classes available.

Saturday 9 March – Fortismere Community Symphony Concert at St. Andrew’s Church, Alexandra Park Road N10 (corner of Windermere Road), ** 7pm **.

Thursday 14 March – Sophie Crawford at Bowes Park Folk Club, Mum’s Bistro 143 Myddleton Road, Bowes Park N22, 7.45pm.

Saturday 16 March - Lunchtime Concert in St. Andrew's Church, corner of Alexandra Park Road N10 and Windermere Road, 1pm. Bach, Vivaldi, Telemann and more, Muswell Hill Violin Studio.

Sunday 21 April – Crows at Bowes Park Folk Club, Shaftesbury Hall, N11 2QN, 2.30-5pm.
 

Ongoing courses and activities

Em Power fitness classes – Monday, Thursday and Friday mornings in OR Tambo Rec, 9-9.30am (term time only). The main focus is on core and legs.

Bowes Park Community Choir - Thursday evenings during term time at Bounds Green School, 7.15-9.15pm.

Life drawing sessions – alternate Saturday mornings at Rhodes Avenue Primary School, 10-12pm.

Zumba and fitness classes – Zumba is on Wednesday evenings, 7-7.50pm. All classes are at Bounds Green Bowls and Tennis Club, Goring road N11.

Salsa Wednesdays – Wednesday evenings at Bounds Green School, Bounds Green Road N11 2QG, 7-8pm. 

V&J Ensemble: Vocal group for ALL Singers on Wednesdays at St. Andrew's Church, Alexandra Park Road N10 (corner of Windermere Road), 6.50-8.30pm.

Enjoy your painting – Thursdays at CUFOS Community Centre (the old railway station), Top of The Avenue N10, 10-12.30pm or 1.30-4pm.

 

 

All Good Bookshop has many regular events - book groups of course, also music, writing, yoga - and special events .... at 35 Turunpike Lane.

Many Music and Art events are held at Karamel, including Collage Kids performance events on Saturday mornings at 11.30am. At 4 Coburg Road, Wood Green N22 6UJ.
