Tim Whitehead (Tenor), Jonathan Gee (Piano), Mick Sexton (Bass), Trevor Taylor (Drums)

Torus, a modern jazz quartet that operated around Essex in the 1980s originally comprising Gary Plumley (saxophones), Pete Jacobsen (piano), Mick Sexton (bass) and Trevor Taylor (drums) reformed over Summer 2011 for a retrospective celebrating the music of that period from Steps Ahead (Mainieri, Grolnick, Brecker), Keith Jarrett and Chick Corea.

The band still gets together on frequent occasions to celebrate great jazz from that period.

Tonight’s lineup will be Torus stalwarts Mick Sexton on Double Bass and Trevor Taylor on Drums and joined by Tim Whitehead on Saxophone and Jonathan Gee on Piano.

Special guest tonight is
Tim Whitehead (tenor-sax): "Those of us who have caught him live have been left blinking in disbelief. It's not just his mastery of the tenor saxophone, phenomenal though it is, but the absolute conviction of his playing that is so impressive." Dave Gelly (The Observer/

Jonathan Gee is "One of the most celebrated musicians in European jazz. His music is precise, lucid and original, and at times breathtakingly lyrical." (Visions of Britain)

Trevor Taylor and Mick Sexton make up the back line with a combination of thoughtful, light-touched swinging jazz through to high energy Latin grooves.

Tickets available on the door at £10 per person.
