Come and join us at Stitch and learn to make a wrap dress with our resident seamstress Pat Stevens!

No dress is as versatile as the wrap dress. It can be adjusted to fit any body type, looks great in every length, can be adjusted to any height, any sleeve and be added to depending on your preference or to suit any occasion with the fabrics you choose to make it in.

Whether you wear it on its own or layer it over another garment or under a cardigan it can be a staple in your wardrobe come winter or summer. So join Pat Stevens here at Stitch and improve your sewing skills by making yourself a fabulous and versatile wrap dress.

This is an intermediate sewing class on how to accurately cut out and adjust a pattern to make a wrap dress with confidence. This workshop will introduce you to the more advanced principles of dressmaking. Individual attention is assured with only 6 places available.

THE SKILLS YOU WILL LEARN INCLUDE:

- lay out your fabric and cut it

- how to use your measurements to adapt the dress to fit you

- cutting dress and binding pieces accurately

- how to prepare and finish the hemline of a dress

- wrap over bodice with option of a line skirt and or straight skirt

- pleating on bodice

- gathering on skirt

- inset sleeves (short or 3/4 sleeve options)

- inseam pockets optional

- hemming

DRESS PATTERN:

We will provide the dress pattern. Please send us your measurement 2-weeks before the class to allow us to prepare your individual pattern.

DRESS FABRIC RECOMMENDED:

light weight cotton, cotton jersey

You can bring along some fabric of your choice or purchase fabric in advance from the selection in our shop. Please allow for extra time before the workshop if you plan on buying fabric from Stitch. Depending on what length you would like your dress to be and your size, you might need between, full skirt option 3m, straight skirt option 2.5m of fabric.

SKILL LEVEL:

This is an intermediate dressmaking workshop. You should already know your way around a sewing machine, and be able to thread the machine and load the bobbin and do forward and back straight stitching.

DATE: Saturday 16th July 11am-3pm and Saturday 23rd July 11am-3pm

Duration: This class is 8 hours of instruction and sewing time.

COST: £75.00

LOCATION: 364 Green Lanes, Palmers Green, N13 5XL (entrance inside Post Office)

We will provide a cosy environment with sewing machines and refreshments!

Just bring yourselves and your notebooks if fancy jotting down some notes.
