Brighten up your wardrobe with a classic top and be proud that you made it yourself! This is an great beginners sewing project.

Come join us at Stitch and learn how to make this shell top with expert seamstress and pattern cutter Nadira Dean.

Nadira is an expert seamstress and pattern cutter with over 30 years of sewing experience. She has enjoyed working with fashion designers such as Alice Temperley, M&S, Top Shop and Dorothy Perkins. Nadira also runs her own craft brand called Sew with Your Heart (see Etsy for her fabulous makes).

In her class she will demystify the sewing pattern by teaching you how to read it, place it correctly on your fabric and cut your pattern ready for sewing. You will construct a very stylish shell top that is flattering for any body type. It can be made in a variety of fabrics and can be extended to make a dress.

Skill Level: This class is for a sewer that has taken our Learn to use a sewing machine class or knows their way around a sewing machine already.

What you will cover in this class:

- Step by step instructions on how to use sewing patterns

- Instructions on understanding symbols on sewing patterns

- How to prepare fabric and lay patterns on to cut out

- Sewing patterns to your size

- The order to sew your garment up

- You will also be covering :

How to use facing (interfacing)

Darts

Back key hole and loop

Stitching and fitting in sleeves

Side splits

Finishing edges and hemming.

- Everyone will receive printed instructions

Please bring fabric either plain or patterned with a two way print on cotton or linen.

Light weight fusible interlining (also called interfacing), thread to the colour of your fabric and a button.

We have a collection of fabric in our Stitch shop. If you do wish to purchase from us please do so in advance. You can get a 20% discount on fabric you are purchasing for this class.
