No, that's just an announcement of an event, it's not a political discussion on the website. Does that make sense?
I did wonder about one of the Labour candidates for the local elections posting about activities they were doing for the area, and about their close links with the Council - as if they were councillors, not just candidates.
Thanks, Admin. I suppose in this case, it's evidently a bit more than just an event and, particularly considering the poster (presumably linked to Admin?), it might risk coming across as political bias on the part of the website? Also, quite an important point if this is suggested as a public event invitation: considering that ticket donations will go to one party rather than, for example, a non-partisan charity, how is that in fact really welcoming to the public? That would seem to exclude a large proportion of the community quite fundamentally (only 8.7% of the population of Alexandra Park ward voted for the Green Party in 2022). Charity fundraiser events on here are definitely a fantastic thing to share, like the carols we do every year for Centrepoint (hooray!), but this doesn't fall into that category.
Yes, that was curious, wasn't it?! Particularly as the person (hello!) who looks after the PG Triangle including the noticeboard, crowdfunded, designed and built the tree bench, clears up litter and has been greening up the area for 10 years without any party political motivations wasn't consulted, we might just wonder if it's because they had been selected as a candidate for another party (the party whose values are liberty, equality, democracy, community, environmentalism, internationalism and human rights, also the party which has done the most for Alexandra Park ward by some distance, has many of the most active green-fingered folk in the neighbourhood, and will actually be a viable opposition to the most complained about council in the country).
But, you know, we might just wonder...!
No, it's just an event posting.
If it were just an event, it would be fantastic, especially if it were a charity fundraiser, like we do together for the carols every year.
Political party fundraisers are different from public events. They are typically shared and publicised within the channels of that political party. For example the Lib Dems are having a fundraiser in the area soon too, but that is advertised on Lib Dem channels. They aren't advertised on public noticeboards. That's the key distinction.
Hi Michael, I offered to post this on Gudrun's behalf as it's her birthday wish and she is unable to upload photos to APN. It's not organised by the Green party, so I understood it would be ok
Thanks, Ellen. Appreciated. Kind to help a neighbour, but I would suggest (as per the above points) that it does probably cross into political bias, and might also make regular APN members, local community members and very proactive green people (in actions rather than political party) feel uncomfortable. I hope that might be clear, and that events which are for the whole community are advertised. This also relates to Admin's point about feeling a little odd about the Labour candidates' post a while ago.
