An exhibition of paintings by Shona Elrick, Janey Hagger and Felicity Swan.
Each of these artists draw or paint as they move through or sit for a while within the landscape through which they are walking. They then return to the studio and develop the work further. Each of them have different concerns that inform their practice.
Shona: A formative influence being her childhood in rural Aberdeenshire, her work is concerned with how mark making and colour can express the experience of being in the landscape, and through using collage, exploring the arbitary nature and synchronicity of materials. Felicity: Uses the intuitive fusion of flow and form. Drawing and painting are of equal significance in her practice: marking her surroundings on paper as she walks, making drawings that are at once abstract yet identifiable as landscape. These then inform her studio work. Janey: is exploring the liminal space betwenn the urban and natural world and our contemporary relationship to the idea of the romantic landscape. She is interested in how our notions of the natural world are influenced by film and screen. Janey works from the green spaes of her locality of North London and Cornwall.
