Paul Westwood & Paul Clarvis, featuring John & Dan ......perform with a new take on Middle Eastern music, with developments in melody, harmony, improvisation and soundscaping.

https://youtu.be/-4JnOGk6pEM The group features bass guitarist Paul Westwood, percussionist Paul Clarvis, keyboard player John Crockford, and DJ Dan, who have taken inspiration from songs used in William Shakespeare’s plays and re-harmonised them with Middle Eastern harmony. Performances feature contemporary developments in rhythm, improvisation and soundscaping.

Members of the group have worked with such artistes as: Mose Allison, George Benson, Larry Coryell, Peter Green, Herbie Hancock, Mick Jagger, Al Jarreau, Elton John, Madonna, Hugh Masekela, Sir Paul McCartney, George Michael, Wayne Shorter, Nina Simone, and classical guitarist John Williams. They have also recorded numerous movie soundtracks with John Barry, David Bowie and Hans Zimmer (Star Wars, Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, Twilight, Skyfall, Tron, Shrek, The Hobbit).

Doors open 7pm. Music starts from 8pm.

What’s on at Karamel in January?

Saturday 24 January 2026 – Fires and Fascism – free screening + Q&A at Karamel, 7 pm. Supported by climate action group Fossil Free London.

Saturday 7 February – London Vegan Mixer - social & karaoke at Karamel, 4 Coburg Rd, N22, 7:00pm.
