THIS IS A TWO PART CLASS THAT RUNS OVER TWO SATURDAYS.

SAT. 30th JULY & SAT. 06th AUGUST, 10:30AM-2:30PM

Have you been inspired by the Sewing Bee, to try the art of the Japanese mending technique of Sashiko?

Are your favourite garments becoming unwearable with holes and frays?

Are you keen to learn how to repair them rather than buy new ones?

We are all learning more about the resources required to make our clothes and the problems of ‘fast fashion’. With our very own Tricia Sharpe you will be be guided in this artistic visibly way of mending and breathing new life in garments that would otherwise be left unworn or thrown out. Give your garments a longer life and learn how to repair them using the Japanese art of visible mending: Sashiko. You will then be able to use your new skills whenever required!

This is a class for all levels and so beginners and experienced darners welcome.

Session 1: Learn about the background to Sashiko, examples of functional and decorative use of techniques, sample demonstration and practice. You will be given a sample to complete at home.

Session 2: Share completed samples, look at individual projects and decide approach, work on individual projects with help from Tricia.

Bring own repair project to session 2 or work on a decorative piece. We have a variety of threads in store if you need something specific for your garment you are working on.
