A wide variety of organisations are joining Extinction Rebellion next weekend to urge the Government to take action on the Climate and Biodiversity crises, and related issues.
Amongst other possibilities (see below), come and join Muswell Hill Sustainability Group for the Biodiversity march on Saturday (join the forest dressed as a tree, if you wish), or join XR Haringey and Muswell Hill outside the Department of Levelling Up to bring home the interconnectedness of the climate and standard of living crises.
Come to Westminster Friday 21st-Monday 24th April
What’s the problem?
“There is a rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a liveable and sustainable future for all.” That’s one of the conclusions of the recent report of the International Panel on Climate Change. We have a window, but it’s closing fast.
Extinction Rebellion are planning events over four days near the Houses of Parliament to urge politicians to take action. They aim to get 100,000 people to attend. More than 200 organisations are in support - including Muswell Hill Sustainability Group.
You can choose to join activities any time over the four days, as an individual, with family or friends, or with an interest group. Muswell Hill Sustainbility Group will go as a group on Saturday 22nd April, when we'll be celebrating biodiversity on international Earth Day. Extinction Rebellion are hosting and stewarding in cooperation with the Metropolitan Police - there will be no roadblocks or gluing to pavements!
A full programme of rallies, marches, speakers, workshops, music and children's activities is here. It promises to be accessible and welcoming, creative and engaging. Here's the outline:
