Come and join us at Stitch and learn Tunisian Crochet with Sharon Wallin.
Learn this effective yet simple design which uses a combination of knitting and crochet techniques. Tunisian Crochet (also known as Afghan) makes a dense and squishy fabric with a beautiful texture. This workshop is suitable for those who have never tried this technique before but have ‘ordinary’ double and treble crochet skills.
Tunisian Crochet is also called ‘knitting crochet’ as you have to cast on all the stitches of a row, and this type of crochet is distinguished by the long, elongated Afghan hook used. With crocheting, you are often turning your working at the end of the row to continue with the pattern but in Tunisian you are only working on one side with forward and back passes.
Problem solved if you suffer from wobbly edges with double or treble crochet as this style gives the cleanest, most even edges you’ve ever seen, you’ll love it!
In this class you will learn:
- how to cast on
- working the simple stitch using forward and back passes
- joining in colours
- working in colour stripes
- working in two-tone stripes
- casting off
- finishing techniques
We will be working up a small sample which will enable you to use this stitch in whichever project you like when you get home.
All materials are provided including a tunisian hook.
