Visible mending workshop in Palmers Green, North London. Come and learn how to mend your favourite jeans using this creative and decorative Japanese mending technique known as Sashiko. It is used to repair worn garments but can also be used to create purely decorative hand stitched designs.
Are your favourite garments becoming unwearable with holes and frays?
Are you keen to learn how to repair them rather than buy new ones?
We are all learning more about the resources required to make our clothes and the problems of ‘fast fashion’. With our very own Tricia Sharpe you will be guided in this artistic visible way of mending and breathing new life into garments that would otherwise be left unworn or thrown out. Give your garments a longer life and learn how to repair them using the Japanese art of visible mending: Sashiko. You will then be able to use your new skills whenever required!
This is a class for all levels and so beginners and experienced stitchers welcome.
Learn about the background to Sashiko, examples of functional and decorative use of techniques, sample demonstration and practice.
