Free Flow Classikal is returning to Karamel on popular demand with a very exciting lineup: Akash Parekar (sitar), Shivam Pattni (guitar/piano/electronics) and Harkiran Sahota (tabla).

Join us for a moving exploration of South Asian Classical music through the medium of free improvisation. No boundaries - No limits.

Akash Parekar started playing and learning the Sitar at the late age of 18 in 2011 and is now part of the new generation of exciting British-born sitar players. His musical upbringing was initially in Western classical and contemporary Western music, which adds to his innovative playing style. From the tender age of 5, Akash was performing on stage and has since flourished as a creative musician. Akash has worked on a number of collaborative projects such as Peguins Rising with Zak Starkey (The Who and Oasis), Mayur Navekar (Bandish Projekt) and Michael Tedstone (ManikeMusic) to name a few. Akash has also played and some very prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall with the Philharmonic Orchestra and DE Montfort Hall, Glastonbury, Birmingham Town, and Symphony Hall, among others.

Shivam Pattni is a versatile vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer with a rich musical background that spans Western choral music, jazz, and traditional bhajans. A former member and musical animateur of the National Youth Choir, Shivam has performed at prestigious events such as the BBC Proms and, at one point, even shared the stage with Kylie Minogue, dressed as a giant Christmas pudding.

Harkiran Sahota is a talented musician, who was enthralled by the sound and artistry of tabla from a young age. From 201, when he began his formal training until now, Harkiran's tabla journey has been one of growth and learning with some notable performances along the way, including accompanying artists such as Jasdeep Singh Degun, Roopa Panesar and Kaviraj Singh during the tribute to Ustad Vilayat Khan concert and also performing at many Guru Poornima ceremonies. Harkiran was featured on the web series “My Journey and Me” in August 2020, performing a tabla solo and was invited to perform a tabla solo live on Barkat Radio in 2020.
