Go Ape!

from Tessa Thomas:

The only way is up when you're one of the Go Ape team - and several were out testing the wires, walkways and ladders last week in preparation for the public opening today (March 18th 2017) of the new Ally Pally facility. Pictured is Charlotte, a 28 year old aerialist who worked at Disneyland and Up At The O2 as well as the Orbit at the Olympic Park (80m up in the air!) before joining Go Ape. Rest assured, it's all fun to watch if you're not as at home in the air as she is...

Bulb planting in the Community Gardens

On Saturday 3rd Dec. there will be the regular PGRA Community Gardening session to plant bulbs in the Albert Road flower beds.

Can you spare some time on Saturday December 3rd to help us plant a HUGE quantity of spring bulbs?

We are hoping to repeat the splendid display of colour that we achieved last year.  We have a large number of beautiful hyacinth, daffodil, narcissi tulips and new perennial's to plant so we would appreciate the help of as many as possible.  Don't worry if you can only help for a short time - all help will be appreciated.

Please meet at Albert Road/Crescent Rise beds between 11.00a.m.-1.00p.m

Alternatively, come and help to complete bulb planting at Palace Gates Road/Crescent Road Triangle on Wednesday 30th at 10.30, for about an hour. Although we have already planted some bulbs in The Triangle beds, we have now received the bulbs supplied free to community groups from Haringey.

Hello All,

Do join the Friends of Ally Pally Station this Sunday from 4pm. We'll be sprucing up the beds, pruning, weeding and replanting, and planting bulbs, as well as discussing plans for the future. It'll be light, extremely satisfying work, followed by drinks in the Gate from about 6pm.

Do join us, whether or not you're already a Friend (easy to become one - just bring a small plant or throw in a fiver!).

P.S. If you're concerned about the ticket barriers/station access etc, all the more reason to join us! As a Rail User Group, Great Northern WILL listen to our/your concerns.

If you live in the Palace Gates area, you have probably noticed the raised beds around the Triangle, and the beds around the Albert Road mini-roundabout, because they are full of flowers - not the usual boring evergreen bushes typical of local authority planting!  This is because they are maintained by local people, who meet generally at 11am on the first Saturday in the month to weed, plant, prune, mulch ... Do come and join in (and meet some more neighbours while you are about it). Even if you can only spare half an hour, this would be very welcome - no experience necessary, and kids welcome. Details of exactly which beds they will be working on at the next meeting are posted on this website.  For more information, reply to this post, or send a personal message to Molly Doran.

Lingotot French and Spanish Classes for Babies and Toddlers @ the Maid of Muswell on Friday and Saturday mornings.
Bonjour! ¡Hola!

My name is Lily and I am a creative and successful teacher with Qualified Teacher Status. With almost a decade’s experience of teaching Modern Foreign Languages  to adults and children in the UK, Belgium, France and Spain, multilingual education has become a way of life for me. I grew up in a bilingual French/Spanish household both in Belgium (Brussels) and Spain (Santander), and my partner is British – our son is himself being raised to be trilingual.

After the birth of our son, I have become more and more interested in multilingual education for little ones, and convinced of its efficiency. I then decided to join Lingotot to share this exciting journey with more families and children!

All research into language development shows that in the first years of life children “learn” (or acquire) different languages with very little effort. In fact, with the right amount of exposure they can acquire a second language almost in a mother-tongue-way, far faster than any adult. Therefore, giving children the opportunity to learn a second language early in life seems to be nothing but beneficial for them.
I believe in introducing children to languages at early age through play, songs and fun!
