A master of the tenor sax, Mornington Lockett fuses his unique style with Kate William’s graceful and uptempo swing, joined by Stu Butterfield’s highly established beats and a touch of Green’s responsive playing. A quartet not to be missed, this is your weekly dose of smooth and soulful jazz.

Mornington Lockett has been described by Time Out as “one of the country’s most acomplished contemporary improvisers…with a fearsome technique and an advanced harmonic approach” so make sure to catch him at this local gig while you can. Performing alongside him, the equally talented Kate Williams, an elegant player with subtle touches and storytelling vibes. Highly respected and award winning players Dave Green and Stu Butterfield will also be accompanying to complete this quartet.

An undeniably skilled trio brings their unique flair to Jazz at Karamel, with Malcome Earle-Smith leading on trombone and vocals, talented Liam Noble on piano and spontaneous Dave Wickens on drums. Look forward to a night packed full of distinctive grooves and musical surprises from this widely respected and skilled trio.

Macolm Earle-Smith is a multi-faceted jazz musician, highly celebrated in the fields of classic jazz and swing, but also a very accomplished improviser in bop and more contemporary idioms. Joining him is Liam Noble, who has been described as “a brilliant pianist who hardly plays a solo without at least one turn of phrase that brings you to the edge of your seat” John Fordham, The Guardian. With accompaniment from Dave Wickens, bringing his unique approach to drumming yet with a disciplined creative edge.

Three superb musicians join forces for an evening of Jazz at Karamel with Josephine Davies on tenor sax, Dave Whitford on bass and Paul Clarvis on drums. They’re each hugely impressive individually, but when together,  their music comes into it’s own – thoughtful, skilled and balanced with a unique edge.

A great original voice on the UK Jazz Scene, Josephine Davies has already and worked and recorded with the likes of The London Jazz Orchestra, Jamie Cullum,The BBC Big Band, as well as a two year stint in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra.

Joined by Dave Whitford, since 1996, he has immersed him self in the London jazz scene establishing himself as one of the most in demand young bass players in the City and regularly performing at the capital’s top venues.

Paul Clarvis brings his unique style of musicianship to many genres and as one of the most requested session musicians, his playing can be heard on hundreds of films!
