DRUM DAY

with 5 top professional female drummers.

This day will consist of a short interview, a solo performance then the floor will open up for questions.

20-minute changeover.
Everyone is welcome to stay afterwards for drinks and discussions till late.
£25 = £5 per drummer.

This day is especially to encourage the younger players and is early enough to be a family day out, but is open to EVERYBODY!

We are hoping ALL our students will come along.

Any question you have will be answered... even what do drummers eat for breakfast!

This will be held at the wonderful Karamel VEGAN restaurant and Jazz Club with amazing support from the owners.
There will be delicious food on sale throughout the day.


THE ARTISTS

CRISSY LEE
After seventy years in the music business, starting at age 4 ,from a background of jazz and big bands plus a smattering of rock, pop and Latin - Crissy Lee is well respected and admired by her peers and musical colleagues as one of the UK's most experienced professional musicians.

Crissy is currently running her Big Band and The Crissy Lee Quartet who appear regularly at the Jazz Club that she runs featuring guest Artistes that have included the talents of Nina Ferro, Jacqui Hicks, Paul Higgs, Karen Sharpe, Kai Hoffman plus many others.

CHERYL ALLEYNE
At Wood Green School in 1975, Cheryl’s first music teacher was Mr David Shaw. She went on to study music at the College of Arts & Technology in Newcastle upon Tyne where her drumming ability flourished under the tutelage of professional drummer Mr Roger Hempsall.

Securing the drum chair for various groups whilst at college, supporting saxophonist Wayne Shorter was a highlight. With a Graduate Diploma grade 1 distinction she returned to London and worked and toured extensively with Loose Tubes, The Jazz Warriors, Mano Ventura, Courtney Pine, and Us3.


She has lived and worked in the U.S. including show band cruise work, and recently drummed in the Clarke Peters Westend Show, ‘Five Guys Named Moe’ in Edinburgh. She continues to be active on the London Scene.

CAROLINE SCOTT
Drummer Caroline Scott is from Scotland, where she started playing drums. After moving to London in 2008, she has played and recorded in a wide range of musical environments, from theatre shows and jazz big bands, to orchestral percussion sections. She has also lived in Boston where she played with college bands at Harvard, Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory and MIT, and gigged on the local circuit. She plays drums with piano trio Cygnus Flare (who recently won the Yamaha Soho Jazz Sessions competition, played at Ronnie Scott’s and Pizza Express Soho jazz clubs and toured in Armenia), Caroline Scott's Khoalesce project, the MO Jazz Orchestra, the Swinging Magpies (vintage swing band), and plays timpani in various London orchestras including the Amati Orchestra and BBC Elstree Concert Band. She recently started a masters in jazz at Trinity Laban as an Archers scholar.

CIARA LAVERS
Ciara is a pop rock drummer with a guilty pleasure for odd time signatures. After graduating from the ACM, Ciara studied at the LA Music Academy.

On her return to the UK, she played and created the drum part for the 2006 version of Blondel by Tim Rice.Other past projects/tours include working with Peter Von Poehl, The Shebeats, The 12 Tenors, Robots in Disguise, Duncan Reid (the boys) and Helen and the Sirens amongst others.Ciara is always wanting to better her craft and so studied with the great Bob Armstrong for the past few years.

She is currently playing for pop/electronic band The Penelopes.

MICHELE DREES
London based Michèle Drees is an established drummer, Latin percussionist, vocalist, guitarist, composer and Promoter and has been active on the Music scene for more than 30 years.

During this time Michèle has played with top Artists across a wide variety of genres including Marc Almond, Kirsty MacColl, Seal, Badmarsh and Shri, Ive Mendes, KD Lang, Susanne Vega, Candy Dulfer, Ian Shaw.


Performing on many of the great stages, Royal Albert Hall, The Barbican, Ronnie Scott’s and numerous Jazz Festivals throughout the world including Montreux and Chorendo sem Parar with her own Jazz Tap project.
