The Friends of Alexandra Park hold monthly 1 hour members' walks. There is no cost for these events, but they are just for members. However, you are very welcome to join on the day! (£5 per household)

Members are invited to an evening walk on Friday, 15th May, at 6:30pm.

Meet at the Park Information Centre, for a gentle stroll  to look at seasonal wild flowers.

We will be holding our AGM at 7.30pm on Thursday 21st May, 2015 at the Park Information Centre

We will review what has been happening in the past busy year, and Mark Evison, the Park Manager, will update us on how our discussion about the future of the Park has fed into his development of a Park Vision and strategy.

Non-members are welcome, but only members can vote.

Come and discover our Information Centre in The Grove on Mon, 25th May, from 11am to 4pm.

We now have a number of new activity sheets for children of all ages - some indoor ones, and some involving getting out and about to discover nature and the Park.  

For others we will be running short organised walks (nature, history...)

The Park Information Centre is also open every Sunday and the first Saturday of the month from 2pm to 4pm

This Saturday, 2nd May we will be planting the hanging baskets in the Triangle (Palace Gates/Crescent Road).
We also need your help to finish weeding at the Albert Road beds. The ground is softer after recent rains, so please bring weeding tools.  
 
We will meet from 11a.m.- 1p.m.  If you have any time to spare please come along.

The garden of artists Susan Bennett and Earl Hyde, at 5 St Regis Close, Alexandra Park Road, as featured in ITV's 'Britain's Best Back Gardens', will be open for charity as part of the National Gardens Scheme on Sunday May 3 from 2-6.30 p.m. In addition to the imaginative planting and the newly installed 'Liberace Terrace',with sculptures designed by Earl, there will be home-baking, teas and a plant sale. Admission costs £3.50 for adults, children can visit the garden for free.

A hustings to question General Election candidates in Hornsey and Wood Green constituency on their climate change policies will be held at the

Royal Britsh Legion, Muswell Hill Road, N10 3NG

(near St James's Church)

on Thursday, 23rd April, at 7.30pm.  

So far, candidates from the Labour, Liberal Democrat, Green and UKIP parties have agreed to attend.  

The hustings are being organised by five local groups: Muswell Hill Sustainability Group, Highgate Climate Action Network, Frie
nds of the Earth Haringey and Transition Crouch End.

The Friends of Alexandra Park have organised another Spring Fungi Walk on Sunday 26th April at 11am. Meet at the Park Information Centre in The Grove (near/visible from The Grove Car Park).

Andy Overall the Fun Guy to be With will lead the walk to show that Fungi are not just for Autumn.

Life Drawing @ ECT

Want to refine your drawing technique? Or just want a space and supportive environment to come and draw? Everyone's Climbing Tree is offering a Life Drawing session on Monday the 20th of April which is open to adults of all drawing abilities! This session is specifically for self-initiated drawing to a range of different times and poses. ECT will also offer a tutored session at a future date.This session runs from 7 - 9pm and is £8 per person. Intro to West African Percussion @ ECT

Have fun on a Friday learning traditional and contemporary Djembe Music from Mali, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Guinea West-Africa. Every Friday evening, all ages welcome. Families, groups or individuals we invite you to try your hand at drumming - prior musical experience not necessary!Led by ETC Musical Director Alexander “Skanda” Sabbagh, importance is placed on cultural backgrounds of rhythms, and how to develop the technique, enjoyment, banter and understanding of how to play Djembe Music fluently. This Workshop is supported by ETC Dun-Dun Heads Volunteer Drummers squeezing the bass into the building. Youngers African Drumming @ ECT

This workshop creates a space for 6-12 yr olds to be immersed with their peers in Traditional Djembe Music. All Drums (Djembe, Dun-Dun, Sticks and Bells) are provided and the weekly sessions consist of musical building blocks and concepts to develop the young people’s understanding and musicianship through embodied learning, playing and fun. By exploring Traditional Djembe and Dun Dun Repertoire guided by ETC Musical Director Skanda Sabbagh, students will discover Rhythm, Technique, Syncopation, Time Signatures, Composition, Improvisation and a lot more along the journey.African Music is the expression of collective and individual joy and vitality it is also a show of ability and intellect. Although we have a lot of fun, this informal learning process has a number of transferable skills.• Valuable Alternative Vocational Learning achievements• Co-ordination and development of motor skills to play specific rhythms• Recognition, learning and memorising of Patterns• Use of Memory to retain music of Aural Tradition• Ability to set achievable yet ambitious goals and observe personal progression.• Developing character through musical expression• Working as a Team to achieve creatively.Drop ins and tasters are welcome but it is encouraged that students show dedication and the ability to work together as a collective towards performances. The Youngers Drumming Ensemble is also linked to our African Drumming Community Partnership which aims to assist young people in their transition between primary and secondary education. If you have a small space available we are looking for volunteers to pot on and nurture  plants for selling at the Fete. Please let us know if you can help.

Youngers Art Club @ ECT

Here at Everyone's Climbing Tree, children of ages 6-12 can come and experience a different approach to making and creating in our exciting space. Art Club at ECT is about the process of creating and expressing ideas. Attention to problem solving and new media brings out exciting new avenues for experimentation and cross collaborations with other disciplines such as music, creative writing and film. Messy Play @ ECT

Messy Play at Everyone's Climbing Tree is a fun learning experience for children aged 1 - 4 that encourages freedom of creativity and exploration. Each week there is a different theme and activity to get stuck into using a variety of art and recycled materials. 

Sessions are every Wednesday 10am - 11:30am and cost £4 per child. You are welcome to drop in or email Sonya at everyonesclimbingtree@gmail.com. We can also be contacted via Facebook at Everyone's Climbing Tree if you would like to lean more. We would love to hear from you!

From the 17th April, Everyone's Climbing Tree is offering a new open access session. If you have creative projects or just want some space to play with, you can come and use the spaces we have available for the day or hours of your choosing. There will be an hourly rate of £3.

On offer on the 1st Mayl will be:

• Wall and table space, easels available

• Use of the print press (A2)

• Internet access

• Use of the Electric drum kit

There will be tea, coffee and refreshments availible at a small fee.

We can supply paper but please bring your own materials for painting, sculpting, drawing.

If you are interested in any of these facilities, please get in touch through our Facebook page at Everyone's Climbing Tree or by emailing everyonesclimbingtree@gmail.com so we can book you in!

For future open access sessions we intend to make available:
