Film: McLibel – The postman & gardener who took on McDonald’s. And won. February 2015 marks 10 years since this infamous marathon of a legal battle concluded at the European Court of Human Rights – and took everyone by surprise. The “McLibel Two” was a David and Goliath story of two people who refused to say sorry. Tottenham residents Helen Steele and Dave Morris – the McLibel Two – kindly introduce the film and look back on their victory.
Doors open at 7pm.

Working Party Thursday January 22
If you who would like to do something practical in Alexandra Park, and can manage a little time during the week, we will be holding monthly sessions to contribute some improvements to the appearance or habitats in the Park. The first session this year is 10am until 12.30pm on Thursday January 22 and we will be returning to the Butterfly Meadow, to restrict the invasion of brambles and small saplings. If you can operate secateurs or a small saw you will be very welcome. Modest refreshment is provided. Meet on the Lower Road by the wooden fingerpost where the path joins from Northview. Bring gloves and secateurs if you have them.
Please join us to let Haringey Council know that we’re watching its handling of the nature conservation site at Pinkham Way very closely.
The key consultation on what will be permitted at the site for the foreseeable future begins in early February, and we’ll need to reply in large numbers.
As a prelude, the PWA will be speaking briefly at the council Cabinet Meeting this coming Tuesday, 20 January, to remind the councillors of Haringey’s March 2013 pledge to stay true to its own planning policies, and to follow the guidance given by an independent planning inspector.
This deposition will only last a few minutes, but we need the viewing space to be full, so that Haringey is in no doubt that we mean business...
Please arrive at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start. We’re on very early, and we should all be able to leave by 6.45pm.
