NGS OPEN DAY ~ raising funds mainly for the major Nursing and Caring charities ~ 66 Muswell Avenue Sunday July 5 : Come along between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and see for yourselves. You will be more than welcome. Tea and Homemade Cakes and Plants on offer and  - for the first time: postcards of the garden for sale – lovely mementoes of the garden month by month. Fish feeding 4 p.m.

Tiny courtyard opens onto terrace of mainly containerized Mediterranean planting including oleander, jasmine, grapevine and herbs. Imaginatively planted lawn area leads through pergola to a little bit of Cornwall in London including a boat, pebble beaches and pond. Dry stone wall behind the patio with unexpected delights.

Over the four years of open days/evenings the garden has been shared with more than 377 visitors and we have donated some £2,637 to the National Gardens Scheme. With your help we are hoping this will be our biggest and most successful even ever.

Fortismere School's  Fortitude festival 2015 will be held on

It is also Maureen Lipman's favourite garden  She was a frequent visitor when she lived  in Colney Hatch Lane.

If you have never been .  .DO  satisfy your curiosity. You will NOT believe what lies behind a tiny end of terrace 1960's  non descript house!

 As Assistant County Organisers, Susan and Earl are always on the look out for NEW gardens of interest and quality  to open for the NGS ..If you think you have a lovely garden and would like to share your passion with visitors in a good cause do get in touch. The NGS  was the instigator   of  the District Nurse movement , and   a century later , has grown into a major national charity supporting caring causes like Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Hospices UK and many others.  3800  private gardens open to the public on special days, raised £2.500 000 last year.. DO COME ALONG AND HELP TO RAISE EVEN MORE THIS YEAR.

Friends of Alexandra Park presents......

After the success of the Barnet Band on Sunday, 21st June (pictures). We have another band coming...

The Palace Band  is a large wind ensemble (flute, piccolo, oboe, clarinet, soprano/alto/tenor/baritone saxophones, bass clarinet, bassoon and French horn) and will be playing a selection of music on Sunday, July 5th, starting at 2pm (weather permitting of course).

Bring something to sit on, buy an ice cream from Ciro's and....enjoy.

Please join us on Sunday 19th July at 2.30 to watch a fascinating dance performance given by Katrina at Alexandra Park Library

Odissi dance is considered to be the most lyrical and feminine dance style among other classical dance traditions from India. This dance form takes its origin from Orissa, East of India. The history of Odissi dance has been traced to the early sculptures found in the caves in Udaygiri, and the main positions of the dance are the copies of temple sculptures. Initially Odissi was developing as a temple dance performed by maharis (temple dancers) for the Lord Jagannath; it has also absorbed the influence of the tantric cults that existed in Orissa. Almost extinct during the British Raj, it was reconstructed and reborn in 20^th century thanks to the efforts of the great gurus – Kelucharan Mohapatra, Devaprasad Das, Mayudhar Raut and others.

 Katrina Rute is a versatile dancer trained in several Indian classical dance styles. Katya has been teaching and performing internationally and took part in various culture events, workshops and TV shows in the UK, Latvia, Poland, Lithuania, Sweden, Russia and other countries.

The rose garden plot at the Golf Course allotments, Winton Avenue will be open for charity on Sunday 28 June from 1.00-5.30 p.m. Admission costs £3,50. There will be tea and cakes and a selection of plants for sale.
