Spring Tree Walk

Friends of Alexandra Park Spring Tree Walk

Saturday May 7th 2pm

Trees in Groups

...
This walk will focus on the various groups of trees on the South Slope. Why were trees planted in groups in the first place, and what impressions were the particular species chosen intended to convey? How have they been managed over the years, and how far has nature subverted the original scheme? And what might be done in future to restore or improve the present groves? This walk will encourage the participants to think about the design and management of trees in parks, and particularly those on Alexandra Palace’s fine south facing slopes.

Meet at the BBC Tower at 2 pm.

Saturday April 23rd 10.30 am.

In March we had a committed group of litter pickers who made an excellent start on clearing litter from the ditch around the sports field. But there is more to do!

This Saturday morning, April 23rd, we will continue to scour the bushes and brambles to remove the bottles, bags and packets that have been blown there over the winter....

Please turn up and help to clear the rubbish before the brambles grow and hide it again.
We will provide the gloves and bags - you provide the hands.

Meet at the "Gas Hut" (the little brick building by the Bedford Road entrance to the Park) at 10.30am The Park is still pretty wet in places, so do wear boots or suitable shoes. We will finish by noon.

Did you find languages hard to learn when you were at school? That’s probably because, like many children, you weren’t given a chance to begin learning languages until late primary school or secondary school.

The best time for children to begin learning languages is actually before they start school. The younger they are, the more effortlessly they pick up new words and turn them into conversations.

Give your child a head start with London Language Hub’s German classes for children. German is one of the simplest languages to pick up. If you have a two to five-year-old, sign up for a class today, and your child could soon be picking up new words in a fun and supportive environment. It’s the first step toward a life-long love of languages.

Sessions begin on 15th April and cost £10 each or just £8 if you book blocks in advance. Find out more and book at www.londonlanguagehub.co.uk or call 07980386718.

Group A (toddlers):                10.30am-11.15am
Group B (pre-schoolers):        11.30am-12.15am
